A mate was trying to explain to me what Twitter is - essentially people say stuff and get followed - is it online stalking?  I really don't get it.

It's like a blog - where people sort of right diaries - but much more regular and a limit of using about 200 characters per entry.

So if you're interested that Stephen Fry is getting on a plane back to Britain then it's ace. Two mins later he'll tell you that he misses the shit English weather too.

Sounds pointless. What's wrong with traditional stalking?

traditional stalking involves a big expenditure in binoculars and camouflage gear. It's like responsible allowed stalking. I'll give you updates on what I'm doing if you don't turn up on my front lawn naked sort of thing.

Taking the creepiness out of stalking - seems a bit soulless to me.  Its like being a Man Utd fan through watching sky sports - not the same as going down the County Ground.

I reckon that if you're a Man Utd fan then you'll probably get a lot less from the county ground than you will from sky sports.

But you will get less fulfilment out of being a Man U fan through Sky Sports than you will going down the CG and watching Swindon.  You woud also get more out of the binoculars/hiding in hedges approach to stalking than you would from the lazy pseudo-stalking that is Twitter.

Yeah but if you only want to watch man u then the county ground is shit. Maybe binoculars on the hill above Wycombe ground would be a good compromise?

Only if Stephen Fry is within binocular sight of Wycombe.

Anything that causes you to describe Philip Schofield as a "cool dude" is inherently bad

Stephen Fry is ace.

He's also a 'national treasure', the qualifications for which are being

(a) lovely;
(b) upper middle class and
(c) middle aged.

There's not many people (other than Fry, Joanna Lumley and Dame Judy Dench) who can tick all those boxes.

Stephen Fry is ace.

I read his autobiography of his youth a while back and was delighted to read that he went on a bit of a spree with a stolen credit card. He was eventually arrested in a hotel in Swindon, after the receptionist became suspicious of his expensive suit but trampy shoes.
