Seems a tad rash to me he's a fairly good gaffer and 9th and 11th placed finishes are nothing to snorted at.  Seems the Shirtlifter knew where his bread was buttered.

Bit harsh isn't it.

Quote
"Attendances have dropped by more than 19 per cent during the last three years and the club felt that now is the right time to move forward in a new direction."

Wonder if they are going down the 'big name' manager route.

So they've waited to till early June and let Moore start buying players before swooping?

Either they're horrifically managed or something's hapenned- wonder if there was a row over Shirtliff or something?

Their attendances are actually very good.

They were one of the teams who used to get less than 1000, 25 years ago.

IMO terrible decision as they had a relatively good season.

Must have been some kind of fall out surely?

They averaged about 6,500 last season which is just above average for the division but nothing to write home about. IIRC Its less than they have had in other recent years though.

Ive always rated Moore as a lower league manager. His teams generally get results at this level, a bit like Sturrock really.

It does sound like there is something going on behind the scenes. Either the Shirtliff thing, or some other wrangle that caused both to jump ship.

Tranmere will always be in the shadow of Liverpool and Everton, but to blame him for the slump in attendances is a joke.

It does kind of smack of him having kicked up a fuss about Shirtliff going and presumably having gone too far so provoking the board into getting rid

Agree with Paul. And maybe Shirtliff saw it coming? Moore has always had a bad mouth on him and despite doing well last season he could have easily fallen out with their board.

This is very suprising I must say.

They must have a superstar lined-up or something.
