Flew into HK airport in February, but as we'd been upgraded to Business Class I was too busy drinking champagne and pressing buttons.  Business Class is bloody great, sadly I may never fly that way again (due to the cost).

I've been on more planes than buses in the last 40 years, never really enjoyed the experience apart from the take off and the landing, the rest is pretty boring for me, it is just a way of life for all of us now.
JFW just to let you know you will be landing in heavy rain on Wednesday and possible thunderstorms, hope that makes you feel better - sorry I shouldn't have said that.

Was in Business class too and from India, on the way I was the same, however on the way back was so tired I slept all the way back to Frankfurt! Lufthansa's B.C is pretty good!

Anyone got a link to that landing about a year ago when the plane is caught in cross winds and basically lands sideways. Was it in Hamburg?

Lufthansa's B.C was pretty poor when we came back from HK. Though I think they were about to upgrade the crappy seats to flatbeds. Still beats the shit out of cattle class though.

I recommend Singapore Airways business lounge in Singapore Airport. Full bar with barman, hot and cold food, footy and rugby on the TV. Ws pissed off when our flight left.

The majority of people actually survive plane crashes as well I think. Spacey being the TEF's example.

Well there's certainly no-one on here arguing the opposite point of Spacey's view.

I used to be scared of flying, but before going to America last year I want to the doctor and they gave me something that divers who are sea sick have, it stops you feeling all the little jumps and bumps and generally made me much calmer. Now flying is just an annoying experience having to wait in the airport and sit on the thing for hours, rather than being a scary experience.

sheepshagger is right, hk airport is new boring and safe. if you fancy some thrills try landing at funchal on madeira, runway on a cliff top, fucking ace.

I love flying, free booze and food served by fit women in uniform, what is there not to like?
I'm going to Funchal in July! I shall look out for the cliff! Given taht take-off is my least favourite part of the whole flight that will be a joyous addition to the journey!

Iv flown with Singapore Airways in economy and it is definately the best airline that i have flown with. The comfortable seats with personal tv's and the food were great but the stewardesses were to die for.  Chiangi airport is pretty cool too. i spent 12 hours there waiting for a flight to Bali and had a great time.

If peasent class was enjoyable then no doubt BC was top notch!

I've acquired many Singaporian friends at uni, so I'll bear that information in mind for future reference! There's bound to be a point where I fly out there.

There's a little yellow trilander that flies between Guernsey & Jersey. The plane seats about 8 poeople with seperate doors for each row of two. Obviously the pilot sits in the front row, but all the passengers can see what he sees. The locals call it the yellow peril & I never understood why, until flying from Jersey once in quite high winds.
First of all it didn't  have the speed or the power to fly straight there into the wind so had to do a "dog leg" over france. On landing we approached the runway with the plane angled at 45 degrees only straightening up at the last second. Now that WAS a bit scary.

Unfortunately I was flying Luftwaffe - they just share SA's lounge.

The entire story was that our flight back from HK was fully loaded, they were looking for volunteers to get bumped. Had to fly from HK to Singapore, then Singapore to Frankfurt (business class), then back to blighty. For our hasstle we got the long haul part as a business class upgrade and something like 600 Euro each in Lufthansa flight vouches. Which we partly used to go to NYC the next year and the rest was spent on in flight duty free.

The morale of the story - getting bumped from long haul flights can be a good thing if you don't have kids/urgency to get home.

The only disappointing aspect awas HK has long since moved its airport to Lantau, so no sky scraper crapping it flight.
