What do you guys make of this?

Interesting to see that ginger nob from Sellick saying it shouldn't be called Team GB as there are no Scots in it. What a fud!

The sooner we rid ourselves of the cash drain that is Scotland, Wales and N Ireland  the better.

It is a British team though. It will be a team representing the UK, selected from every eligible and available British player. If the SFA etc want to prevent their players from being eligible/available then that's up to them. It's still 'Team GB'

Why was it deemed necessary to rebrand Great Britain as "Team GB" for olympic purposes?

Well this is all part of Gordons cunning plan to make everyone feel more British.

To out gay the Americans.

I don't mind a Great British football team. Who cares if the Sweatie, Taffs and Paddys aren't included, less arguments that way. Think if they were involved, we wouldn't be able to play our strongest team because we'd have to include their players too, for political reasons. Now we can pick the best 11.

Not that football should be in the  Olympics mind.

Ok I realise the difference, but the team represents the UK, and is called Team GB, so it's their fault not mine!

Surely its because official Olympic official stuff has us down simply as Great Britain. As in nationality : British.

Edit: apparently the IOC does govern the entirety of Ireland and Northern Irelandish (sic) athletes can chose who they can compete for, us (GB) or them..

There are a great number of smaller associations, particularly in the Caribbean, who would like to see the four home nations having to compete as a single team.  That riles me a little.  The game would not exist in its current form were it not for the UK.  We have more football history here than those places could even dream of having.  I can completely understand the SFA being wary of losing their status.

The compromise is a bit of a fudge, as compromsises often are.  But it works, more or less.

The season starts during the Olympics does it not? It also comes after the European Championships.

Who the hell is going to want to play in this? Stick England C or British Universities in and move on.

There's no need for football to be at the Olympics period.

England and Scotland are the original international football teams. If trinidad and tobago or Jamaica dont like it..... then fuck off!

Why dont they just enter a womans team? No one gives a shit anyway.
