I use Joomla lots and although it's possibly the best cms, I've had more pleasant kicks in the bollocks than days on that fucking cunty cms. I do love it though, but like a wife - you kinda love it most of the time, if only through habit, but secretly want to kick fuck out of it and find something better.
I haven't touched Joomla in quite a while, Drupal seems pretty popular now as well. Whilst it wasn't an issue for me the biggest problem I had with them is that they just weren't friendly enough for non-techie's, stuff like that really needs to be idiot proof to go mainstream.
I don't go anywhere near PHP anymore unless I have to, more interested in Java - some pretty good open source stuff available though the extra hosting requirements push the cost up a fair bit and its a lot more complicated than PHP options.
