£180 to repair the faulty audio jack on my iPhone 3g and I still have 11 months left on my contract, rats.
What happened to it? Did you fuck it up? Or did it fuck up on it's own? Apple might try to stick rigidly to their 12 month warranty but it's just their time limit. I've read of a good few people challenging them on it and winning, getting their products repaired or replaced under warranty after the 12 months.

I doubt it's on the home insurance, it's some weird policy that my girlfriend has through the Norwegian students union thingy.
I didn't break it, it's a fairly common issue with the 3G apparently.
My phone is jailbroken anyway, so that utterly voids the warranty.

That doesn't void the warranty, you just need to do a factory restore through iTunes prior to taking it in. If you don't mind spending a bit of time fighting Apple over it, you've got a good chance of getting it repaired for free.

New jailbreak available for iOS4 (up to 4.0.1) Just visit http://jailbreakme.com from Safari on your handset. These dev guys are getting good. I used this link to jailbreak my phone. Now when i plug my iphone into my laptop it says that there is a phone update, will updating lock my phone in anyway, is it safe to update?

It won't lock it but it will remove the jailbreak and that method you used won't work again once you've upgraded.

Thanks. I'm not that bothered about losing the jailbreak, i dont really understand what the benefit is to be honest. Plus as im out of the country i have no internet, so all i have is phone that cost shit loads to make calls on.

The only time I've heard of bricking being a possibility is trying to unlock a new and unsupported version of iOS, other than that it's been a while since it was a risk. I can't be arsed with unlocking either, couldn't see any real benefits except running pirated apps whilst making the phone harder to use and maintain. Plus it's worth keeping up to date with the upgrades to iOS at the moment as 4.1 and especially 4.2 add some nice new features.
Apple have stopped being dicks over the app store policy as well. They're letting pretty much everything through now as long as it ain't porn. Google Voice is coming (though fuck all use to anyone outside the US) and similar stuff they were blocking before.
The porn thing really pisses me off - as they don't allow it the parental controls are fucking shit. With the result of me having a panic attack every time my niece or nephew gets hold of my phone in case they navigate to my large and depraved collection of porn videos.

Help needed please.
Im having trouble with my phone connecting to my itunes. I open itunes on my laptop and its all good, i can play music from the library etc, but when i connect my iphone to the laptop the itunes freezes. The phone works fine all the time, i just cant connect the two together to change music and podcasts and stuff.
I Have thought about reseting the phone but i will lose everything then, numbers and that. Can i save them somehow?
Any ideas anyone?

Service Pack 1, came out a week or so ago, might have been installed automatically by Windows update.
If it has been installed that will probably be the cause as it contains a USB bug which can cause the problem you've got.
Simple solution, buy a Mac.
