Thanks guys, looks like its a goer then. It doesn't actually look too girly either, its quite sleek.
Can you expand on this comment Doore?

The car - some have suggested its a girly car, but I think it has a sleek, Italian coolness.

I asked the guys at work what they think of this car and they all asked "How old is she" for some strange reason. TRUTH!!!

I had a Super Strada about 18 years ago. I was driving it one day and suddenly realised I was engulfed in Smoke / Steam. Pulled over to find the top of the radiator had basically fallen off. The same car also developed a "short" between the exhaust pipe and fuel tank Luckily for me the big ends went quite soon afterwards so I was able to scrap it. It was a great car though.

My new Fiat Grande Punto is now on order - please now post all of your Fiat horror stories and convince me I have done the wrong thing.

My sister-in-law used to have a Fiat Punto. She was just driving along one day and the exhaust fell off.

that was probably a dodgy dealer.
end of the day, a car can be shit for one person but great for another.

Hmmm not exactly the dealer's fault if the exhaust falls off though. It's not like they can tell it's going to happen in advance.

Fiats seem to have a lifespan of about seven years. My Punto was costing about £250 a month in repairs before I eventually had it put down. Always started first time though..

If it was fitted, for example the cowboys at kwik-fit, it would come with a years warranty.

kwik fit - i stupidly agreed to the free tracking check once, and then in a moment of weakness agreed to let them mess about with it. and now the steering wheel points to 1o'clock to go in a straight line. would have taken it back but went on holiday for a couple of weeks after getting it done so by the time i'd realised it was fishy it was a month after i had it done and so out of guarantee. tossers

My cousin had a Fiat Grande Punto, one day the rear axle fell off and then the car exploded. He now eats through a straw and is nursed by gillingham fans.

My wife had a Fiat Uno. She'd have been better off walking. Which she did. Quite often. At least she could fold the thing up, put it in her handbag and carry it home when it fucked up.
