Me and Mrs Nochee have been deciding where to go for our summer hold and have decided that we have to go back to Thailand for the 100th time.

I would like to add another country to my visited list tho so i checked Air Asia and they have ridiculously cheap flights to both places from Bangkok. As we only have 3 weeks away and cant fit everything in we are thinking that we have 2 weeks in Thailand and 1 week in Cambodia or Vietnam.

Which one would be the best?

I would like to go to both.

Cambodia has Angkor Wat amongst many other things.
Vietnam looks beautiful.

Cambodia does have Anchor Wat and a day of looking at Temples would be great. But a day is about enough for me.

Im looking to do some kind of activity such as Rock climbing, Rafting and such things.

Have a look on Infohub.com and search for kayaking / rafting in Vietnam....there are quite a few tour options.

I don't know ,much about rafting and stuff but I do know that Vietnam can be surprisingly expensive. Nice place though.

I went to Cambodia 2 years ago and apart from Angkor Wat it's not really set up for tourists yet. There certainly didn't seem to be much in the way of "activities", it's more about the culture and history of the place. Based on what I heard from other tourists I met there it sounds like Vietnam would be a much better bet for what you are looking for.

During the Vietnam war there used to be a chant in the Town End to "send Wilf Castle to Vietnam".  Mr Castle was, I believe, the chairman at the time - I guess times were not good either in Vietnam or STFC!

went to vietnam for 2 months before i went to uni, loved every minute of it, and would go back there like a shot.

People will mistake you as a yank at first, and show some trpidation towards you, but the minute you speak, and they find out your british, they will love you.

in the cities like ho cho minh or Hanoi, you can get a good bowl of rice with some veg in and meat for 15p a day!! (TIP: do not aks what meat it is ever!!)

if you ever find yourself in a village just north of Dang nai, ask for chim', he will have a swindon town bobble hat!! Smiley

you will love it I promise you!

Flights are now booked for 3rd Aug-25 Aug. Stockholm to Bangkok £450 return with Thai Airways.

Thanks for the tips and it looks like it will be Vietnam for the final week of the trip.

I will find this Chim fella with the STFC bobble hat, take a pic and post it here in Sept.
