The Swindon connection thing is a good clue, I take it he was a caretaker manager at a club temporarily and is an ex player rather than a manager or backroom staff?

Afraid not. Just checked. Aitken was caretaker but only took charge for 3 pre-season games before Martin O'Neill took charge for the season proper.
