I used to play Ice Hockey for the Swindon Jaguars and then the Pumas. I used to play with and was picked on by the now Swindon Wildcats coach, Ryan Aldridge. Fact.

Oh yeah, Ryan was tiny, but he was backed by others! There was Gareth Endicott, Lee Braithwaite, Alan Armour... Ryan was the mouth, the rest were pretty ok without him around. Plus, it's not the size of the dog in the fight... As i was new to the sport, was still learning and the others were first line, the fact that it was driven by egos, meant fights and displays of machismo were the order of the day. Once i made first line though and had been playing for years, everything was cool. I used to play with the now captain as well, Wayne Fiddes, he's still a good mate. ...now you've got me started, playing for Swindon was nothing compared to Durham Ice Hockey School. The head coach there liked to be called Hitler and enjoyed getting the players chanting "zie heil"! If he caught you talking or anything after 10pm, he got you kitted up and down the rink to run up and down the seating for a few hours. That place was like bar fight 90% of the time during matches. It was what seemed like 100s of testosterone fuelled teenagers all dying to kick seven bells of shit out of each other. Fortunately by that time all us Swindon boys were mates.

I used to work with Gareth Endicott at Nationwide Life. Just thought I'd share that with you.

I saw the Boston Bruins play a few years ago with the Dropkick Murphys performing at Half-Time and Full-Time. It was great fun.
