As you are all a cultured lot, after some advice...

Any suggestions for a decent hotel in Paris, if possible less than 100 quid a night, but in decent area and nice... not a chain if possible. We were supposed to be going to Italy on honeymoon this year but due to the piss poor exchange rate we are delaying that a year so looking to take the new wife away this summer/autumn.

Ta muchly in advance.

I went last summer with my girlfriend and stayed in Le Clos de Medicis, as it came highly reccomended by the various travel sites. It was a lovely little place right near Notre Dame, perfectly clean rooms and decent enough breakfast, nothing flash but then again you don't tend to spend much time in the hotel.

I can't remember exactly how much it costs but it wasn't a whole lot.

Maybe he is trying to sweeten up a girl on valentines day.

I tried that once and it was one of the most unromantic weekends that I ever had, didn't even get into her knickers. The ungrateful bitch.

Went here last year..if you go to Thomas cook they will get you a good deal here if you use Euro tunnell...walking distance to the Eiffel,Champs and The Arc De Triumph which was my favourite...not far from the river..abit pricey and didnt eat there but ther are loads of different places localy to eat...very private too, didnt think i would enjoy Paris but i will be going back soon.
As i said a good travel agent will get you a deal here,my advice is book early if your using The Euro Tunnel..its alot cheaper.

Some may turn noses up but for a cheapish city break I always recommend lastminute.com.  You can get a decent flight and hotel or just hotel package at 4 and 5 star hotels easy! I've checked quite a few hotels out directly on their website and some really are nice!

IMO somewhere like Venice is better.

I went years ago with some mates and had a great time but vowed that if I ever went back it would be with a lass, equally the missus has never been and fancies the idea.

Plus neither of us are great flyers and we can go on Eurostar which is a defiunite bonus, and can make into an longer hoiliday as my old man now lives in south France (why he ever made the decision to move to south of France from Witney I will never know!) so we can go there after.

Venice would be great and is planned for next year, really looking forward to that although people seem to love or hate it as I have heard some stories that it isnt great!
