did anyone watch this last night? what did you think of the show?

i used to be quite interested in politics but am now apathetic. i'd probably vote but only to stop the worst of the two parties getting in. question time used to be shit hot but last night's show was a bit embarrassing. it's the first time i''ve watched it for months and months. the panel:

- nigel farage, UKIP leader, who proposed the film 'Love Actually' as a model for anglo-american relations.
- theresa may, tory, didnt say much thankfully
- geoff hoon, labour mp for transport, who was just about ok.
- will young (the singer), who was "worried" about almost everything and had some confusing views on racism.
- Shami Chakrabarti from liberty, even she annoyed me a little by the end.

my heart sank when someone from the audience was given airtime to say "gollywog was used thirty years ago and it was fine then, so whats the problem now."

I watched it thought it was a good show last night. I liked it when Hoon counter argued the preparation for the snow by asking how many people actually bought snow chains.

I watched it last night for the first time in ages, which was a mistake as once again I felt like putting my foot through the TV.

I thought the UKIP bloke talked some sense about the snow. Why aren't the councils using builders and farmers to help clear the roads, they will all be sat on their arses doing nothing in this weather so why not use them?

The bird from Liberty always gets on my tits. She just goes way over the top every single time.

Will Young was a lot better than I thought he would be, though I think there was a couple of times when he had problems explaining himself - especially the gollywog thing.

Hoon and May should have been locked in a hotel room together, they would of either made some kids or killed each other. Why is it that the main party people always have to talk bollocks, go off on tangents and act like little kids. It would be a pleasant change for them to actually be honest and actually answer questions for once.

I watched it. Was alright. Don't think anybody came across really well.

Apparently Will Young once lived on the same street that I once lived on in Exeter or something.

Would you come across Teresa May?  Fair play to Beeb for sticking a porn star on, rather than a Tory girl.  May is a bit of a dog really....willing I suppose.

I haven't watched QT for about 20 years

A few years ago maybe but not now, she's aged badly.

How many fucking teachers were in that audience.

It makes me sick how little balance there is on this programme in terms of the left/right view expressed.

Liberty needs to give exposure to someone other than Shami Chakrabarty.  They come across as a one woman pressure group - and she does seem to get an extraordinary amount of airtime for an unelected member of the public.

Theresa May was clearly going for the populist applause generation route with her 'Why, oh why, oh why does the country grind to a halt every time we get a dusting of snow?' approach...the same tired line that's been repeated ad nauseam in letters pages every day this week.

Geoff Hoon (who I do not find myself agreeing with often) explained quite reasonably that kitting every council in the land with a fleet of snow ploughs that would get used once every 20 years was possibly not the best use of tax payers' cash.  He was then back up by Shami and Will Young, leaving Theresa May looking a bit daft.  Tory bint.

Haven't we been here before?  'Left' and 'right' are both relative terms.  From where you stand, everyone (pretty much) is 'left'.

I'm fairly sure that the BBC don't have an audience selection policy that favours any one group.  The composition of the audience is determined by the composition of the group that applies for tickets.

You sympathise with the BNP.  The general population (including those applying for Question Time tickets in Dunstable) abhors the BNP.  This is why you don't approve of the left/right balance!

I keep harking back to years ago, but I'm sure more was done to keep road and rail open, than what happens now.

For example in the Cotswold Hills along the 419-417 during the winter, a simple fence made of wire and wooden stakes, was strung out in the fields alongside the road.

This meant snow rather than drifting down into the road, piled up against the fence, helping to keep it open.

A mate whose family had a business in Wroughton for years, was used by WCC to clear the 361 up and over Red Barn Hill.

They stopped doing it sometime in the 80's when they were no longer getting paid for it.

You mean Liberty isn't a one man operation? I always thought it was just her own little personal crusade against the world.

No. You think you know what I believe in but obviously, you don't you're about as clueless as most of the audiences.

QT has a long long history of selecting its audiences.  That's why you have to apply to be in the audience.

I don't claim to know the detail of what you believe in at all.  All I have said is that the general slant of your politics is a long way to the right of the middle ground.  I doubt that you would query that point yourself.

Given that your views are quite a long way out to the right on the political spectrum, I do find it amusing that you become so exasperated (as you have on a number of occasions) that the consensus is more 'left wing' than you would like.  That's the only point I'm making here.  I do not understand (or really care about) the minutiae of your political beliefs.  That's your business, and yours alone.

Well if that;s your attitude, you can shut the fuck up!

Seriously, you are a clueless cunt.
