What a cracking episode. Really? I didn't think it was that great. The only thing it kind of explained was where Widmore fascination with the island began.

What helped was that it had none of the crap characters (Jack, Kate or Hurley) and loads of my new favourite, Richard Alpert.

I also quite like the blonde girl with the big gun.
A very welcome addition to the cast.

Indeed, is she Penny's mother?

i really enjoyed it. It left me wanting to know more rather than feeling i had to know. The last couple of seasons have been a bit drag i think... but it just got interesting again, like it was at the start.

I didnt think it was anything great.
So we know why Widmore is involved with the island. Could we also guess that he is possibly the father of both Penny and Daniel?? seen as he funded all his work etc
Does everyone remember the episode last season, it was a Locke flashback and Richard came to visit him and put things on the table for a young Locke to pick? I guess one of those was the compass that Richard gave Locke in the future to give back to Richard in the past to show Locke in the future?!
Also, why doesnt Richard age and if he's been on the island for so long why is Ben the leader and not Richard?
I also assume that Widmore left the island the same way Ben does by being the leader and then moving the island.
Last of all - Lost like to throw in anagrams like the funeral home was an anagram of flash forward or something. So I'm trying to find some link to jughead!

You're all wasting your time. No-one knows what's going on, least of all the people that write it. They're making this shit up and you think it's all going to end and it'll all make sense. It's never gonna make sense. Turn it off, play the guitar, read a book, write that letter to your gran that you keep meaning to write. Just let it go.

So we know why Widmore is involved with the island. Could we also guess that he is possibly the father of both Penny and Daniel?? seen as he funded all his work etc I'm guessing that what we saw last night was the start of Widmore's fascination with the island. Seeing Daniel, Locke etc. makes him realise they can time travel and he starts to believe the island has special powers. Widmore somehow leaves the island but I think it will be against his will, which I think must be something to do with Ben (hence the reason they hate each other). Widmore then dedicates his life to getting back to the island. He realises the only way he can do that is by finding this person from the future (Faraday) who travels back in time and therefore funds his research. I also think last night explained somewhat how Locke is 'destined' to become leader of the others, because in the past he tells Richard that this is the case. So past Richard then believes this man from the future is destined to be their leader. All quite clever really. It's funny how little things from previous series', like when Richard visits young Locke, now make sense.

I've still never watched this. I really can't be arsed to bother either, it sounds far too spookily addictive.
