The pitch is right next to the river and even a sniff of moisture in the air causes it turn into a swimming pool.

I saw highlights of another rugger match on the news and the pitch was immaculate. Even had some nice stripey designs cut into the grass, something that I know our current groundsman is unwilling to do because "you don't know which bits you've done and which you haven't". What a terrible excuse.
