That's a bit early! My 7 year old asked me recently what a fucker was! I thought that was young.

Hell, what a shock for you.
I'm sure she now realises what she said is wrong, but the fault is not with her, it's with the parents of her cousin.
Foot down old chap.

Friends of mine had a 4 year old who uttered 'FFS' under his breath in front of the grandparents last year. Luckily, the grandparents missed it. My friends then decided not to draw attention to it and the phrase was quickly forgotten/dropped from their little boy's vocabulary.

I've sworn a fair number of times in front of my daughter (not at her) and she's been exposed to films or other people using language. We explain, vaguely, why the words are seen as bad, suggest she shouldn't use them until she really understands what they mean and when they can be used. To her credit, she's 8 1/2 now and not to my knowledge ever repeated them around me. That's something, because my tongue is pretty loose. Then again, although I swear in normal conversation now, I never swore in front of my parents until I was 18ish. Bastards was the word and it was when my Mum greeted me at the front door with the news that Spurs had been let off their point penalty for doing worse than we had for our demotion.

I remember the first time I swore in front of my mum. She hit me so hard I've never swore in front of her again.

I've never sworn in front of my mum - she swears at me all of the time.
