I bought an iPod uploaded all of my dodgy MP3's and then I still need to go and fucking buy the album on CD like an obsessed collector magpie sort.

I’m still using iTunes ‘antique edition’ and refuse to upgrade so things probably have changed but all I’ve done is point iTunes to the music folder in the iTunes directory and that’s now where all the music is automatically imported to and feeds back from.

I just do it manually. From iTunes just click File and select 'add folder to library'. That sticks it in your library and then when you connect your iPod up next it syncs the new songs you've added to the library.

Considering the millions of people worldwide who download music "for free", you'd have to be extremely stupid and/or unlucky to get caught and prosecuted. The police are mainly going after the people hosting the sharing sites because technically they are the ones infringing the copyright. It's the same with pirated DVD's, it's only illegal to produce/sell them - it's not illegal to buy them.

I'm sure some clever fucker has developed some kind of iTunes alternative, but don't quote me on that.
Either way I don't own iTunes, or an iPod, so i'm alright jack.

Yeah me too. Whenever I think I might need a portable music player I just use my mobile phone. Transfer the songs as if it was a normal usb drive in windows. No bother. Unfortunately my minidisc player died when the batteries leaked

I used to have a good mindisc player, and like yours the battery leaked, however, mine didn't die, i just can't be bothered to find a new battery!
On an iTunes alternative note, i've just had a butchers and it seems there are alternatives around, however, 5 minutes browsing was getting me worked up about how much i'd hate that program and can see why i'll never own an iPod.
