What, because it involved a female?

I think JPC witnessed both assaults so is obviously right!

I think it's JPC once again giving it the "I know something you dont know" bait.

The truth is, a lot of people already know who AW allegedly assaulted, but choose not to even hint at it on a public forum.

Not just because he's Stevie G.... because anyone else would get the same, no chance of him going down in this day and age.

I think you're right Dave, I haven't heard of anyone who's bottled someone and got a jail sentence out of it, unless they've been naughty before.

Someone told me but I was pissed at the time and have no recall...mainly because I wasn't that interested.

Dazzza, Morecambe definitely sounds like the highlight for next season.

Lets just say I've had to bite my lip very hard on this one and show one hell of a lot of restraint on the pitch

Whist I'd normally say innocent until proven guilty I wouldn't in this case. At minimum he is guilty of stupidity, what the fuck was he doing out on the piss in the early hours of the morning? He could have avoided it by not being there and not being pissed up. I have zero sympathy for Premiership footballers, especially when it is a world class player such as Gerrard - they should be treating their bodies as temples instead of getting trashed all the time.

Its made worse by their clubs and the FA not having a backbone as they are only worried about their performances on the pitch rather than the bigger picture. Some bloke ends up in hospital, Gerrard gets charged with assault and Liverpool decide to fully support Gerrard rather than condemn him. With the FA wiping their hands of it.

Its about time their clubs and the FA started dishing out heavy penalties on players for improper behaviour. Suspend them for months rather than games, hit them with six figure fines, force them to go for rehabilitation and counselling to sort their shit out and make them perform plenty of work in their spare time for good causes.

Maybe Gerrard is innocent of the charges, but he is a fucking twat for putting himself in the situation in the first place and should be getting an all round bollocking and kicking from everyone. Personally, I'd ban the fucker from playing for England for 12 months for his stupidity alone.

What, because he is a Premiership football player, he shouldn't be allowed to go to a night club and get pissed until he has retired from the game?

I reckon you should stick your fork through his neck before a match, would make for great pre match entertainment.  Better than the fucking Rockin Robin hacka and the bloody cheerleaders anyway!  Come on triseros, think of us in the stands freezing our bollocks drinking shit coffee, take one for the team man!

For going out on the piss after a game....we'd have no bloody players available! most of them go out on the piss with their mates after a game and why the fuck not!

Weve all done that Berni....but assisting in glassing someone we aint...he could be just a third party but that would be suprising baring in mind theyve charged him.
Also when a club pay big big money to a pro they expect standards to be set....and thats why me and you may not get a jail term for a first offence with glassing...but the courts will go by the same rules as Liverpool FC and expect higher standards than he has set...thats part of the deal when youe England captain and playing for Liverpool.
He was probably goaded but with all the violence in Mersyside i think the courts will not have no option but a custodial sentence...if found guilty of course.

If he's gone out on the raz and committed a violent, stupid act, then yes he deserves punishment. He does not deserve punishment if he goes out on the lash and gets caught up in something just because he's in the wrong place at the wrong time.

My mates brother got mixed up in a drunken fight and ended up putting someone in a coma (one punch in self defence). The point is, he didn't know that would happen at the start of the night so he certainly wouldn't have deserved to be proven guilty of what he had been accused of. With the point to Gerrard, at the moment we only have very sketchy tabloid details to go on.

True, but no-one (apart from JPC possibly) knows what happened in that bar, and I was merely contesting the point that footballers always have and always will go out after a match and get shitfaced. God knows what happened in the bar but until details come out then I think that comparison with Barton and completing lambasting him is a bit unfair.

If it is true he wrapped a pint jug round someones head, then he should be treated exactly the same as anyone else, so probably a suspended sentence and a fine as already said.
