I just think the punishment part of sentence is by far the least important, behind acting as a deterrent to stop other people doing the same, and in the case of imprisonment, for the safety of the public. I find the vitriolic hatred of people in cases like this quite saddening to be honest. Karen Matthew might be greedy, a bad mother, a bit thick, and possibly not a very nice person, but I don't want a womb removed, or her given a lethal injection, or anything else permanent. |
