It won't be Lingy - he wanted to do away with the youth system and just buy players in - obviously not a good for his interview when the club are relying on bringing through good youth for investment...

One thing that Fitton didn't say and thst was that he would be inviting applications - he mentioned people had already been on the phone, which make me suspect he knows exatly who he wants and will pursue them.

I heard it that the phone calls were coming to him... As in the ones that every club gets that as soon as a manager's position looks a bit shakey, they come out of the woodwork. Wasn't it ten minutes after King's first sacking that Bobby Gould phoned up?

As they're in charge for tomorrow's game, probably not.

You must agree that appointing Byrne and Williams permanently would be a disaster though Paul.. Surely..

Why would it be a disater. Their caretaker spell wasnt that bad was it? I suppose Byrne does wave his arms around too much.

They have both been involved in the Malpas era so have contributed to the downful, neither has tactical nous, one is old school and abusive (his way or the highway), the other is out on the piss with the players. If we appointed them it would cause the same discontent the Malpas appointment did, with most fans feeling very very dissappointed. Time for a proven manager and proven coaching team.

I suppose it'd be a "disaster" of sorts because we're not after a "not bad" return. I wouldn't be happy with DB and AW given til the end of the season as I don't feel they have done a good enough job under MM. And I'm still struggling remembering being impressed during their last term in charge. A home draw v Swansea seems to be the highlight. I also think a fresh management team would do the club the world of good.
