Cool Hand Luke - one of my favourite filsm of all time and one of the great cinema characters. A really good actor and from all accounts a really good person. RIP.

Had a role in 'The Hudsucker Proxy' too, which is a vastly under-rated and hugely entertaining film from back when the Coen brothers produced decent movies.

I'll bite. Fargo, The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou? and No Country for Old Men all superb Coen movies post-Proxy. Other than that I agree. |

I'm sorta with michael on this. But only because i was bored by Fargo, disliked A Simple Plan and recently watched No Country for Old Men, with baited breath, only for it to end. I keep meaning to watch O Brother, Where Art Thou? and do like The Big Lewbowski though.
Shame about Paul Newman, many good films, really liked The Colour of Money myself, gotta be one of my favourite films.

Forgot that No Country for Old Men was by them! It is a well produced film, although served up from a novel.
My point was more around the run of The Man Who Wasn't There, Intolerable Cruelty and The Ladykillers. Awful in anyone's book.

Me thinks you're thinking of Blood Simple... A Simple Plan was a decent Sam Raimi movie. I really liked Butch Cassidy but Cool Hand Luke was great. |

Briliant actor...also people dont realise that any profit from his sauce ranges went to under priveledged kids....110 million pounds since he started them also married for over 50 years......but what i admired most was that he didnt wallow in self pity and even close mates didnt know how ill he was.
RIP.
