Chicken with roasted vegetables and potatoes. Mmmm.
Homemade cheesecake afterwards! And the obligatory mug of tea.
I'm going to miss good food when I go back to uni

I've had a rather unusually busy day. Been at my dad's updating the wine list and shit on the website, had a few more beers than I probably should have considering I'd agreed to....

Cook up a bit of a spread for my mum and her work friends for when they came back from the cinema. I don't really mind, I'm a pretty good chef and I enjoy it. Also I live rent free at the moment so it's the least I can do.

Menu consists of.
Some nice bread (bought, couldn't be arsed to make some)
Meatballs in a smokey paprikary spicey tomato sauce.
Prawns fried up with garlic and chilli
Chicken livers cooked up in sherry in a creamy sauce.

I won't do the prawns or chicken livers until they get back, so it's not too bad. Menu items may have been stolen from a certain restuarant I used to work at. I had to reinvent most the recipes though, it's been quite a while since I quit.

But that makes it even more fun fB, when you have to re-invent or even better just create something off the cuff. It's a turn on sometimes not knowing how it will turn out.

A bit like sex with a stranger.

I 100% agree. Most of the fun is trying to work out how the stuff you chuck in will effect the flavour, along with tasting other things and trying to work out what makes them taste like they do.

I don't claim to be some cooking master or anything, more enthusiastic really. But if I was to be arrogant enough to offer anybody advice then it would be to taste things you eat. Don't just chuck them in your mouth and say that tastes nice. Think about the different flavours something has, try and figure out what's giving something each flavour. Break it down in your mouth. Think about the texture.

The thing is though, when I try and make the effort to taste stuff properly, I sort of start enjoying things which aren't that nice. It's fun to think about why it isn't very nice and how it could be improved and stuff.

Ooops I started writing this about 40mins ago but then had to cook some stuff. Madness.

I'm on a bit of a queer health kick at the moment, so i had a sweet pepper soup that i made and finished with a freshly baked Ciabatta Roll with some olive oil for dipping. I have actually had that for about 6 out of every 10 meals for nearly 2 weeks. Praise me and a my stupid weight loss attempts.

I had the inlaws round and they brought Chinese with them Cool

There's still shit loads left... 2 beef with mushrooms, 2 special fried rice, 1 shredded chilli beef, 1 sweet and sour pork, 1 roast pork chinese style and 1 plain noodles to be precise.
