I've got a vague memory of a mate at uni who was doing OTC stuff saying that loads of the bars and clubs around exeter would deny entry if you used military ID. Think it was to do with a reputation of acting like pissed up knobs.

What if the hotel had trouble with squaddies in the past and put a blanket ban them? IPerhaps common sense should prevail, but the hotels actions are no different from banning single sex groups from Butlins, or kids from newsagents.
