looks as if it's going to be hit by another hurricane with residents leaving their homes again. can't help but feel a lot of sympathy for them.

as an aside, anyone know if sam and nikki are still in cuba?

Not the greatest place to build a city, hindsight and all that. New Orleans was always a place I wanted to visit - Katrina decimated much of the cool stuff last time round.

The combination of being below sea level and, dare I say it, global warming could result in the possible abandonment of New Orleans unless they strengthen the levees, because the hurricanes will get stronger and stronger and they will not cope and it will become a pointless to keep the city operating... Of course many will say that global warming is nonsense.

It's devastating for the residents but a sensible move by Ray Nagin to get New Orleanians the hell out of there!

Oh and from what I can gather - Sam and his lady are in Cuba still (thread from last night)

there is a major difference between the countries in that region, cuba dominica haiti and mexico build there towns knowing a hurricane will hit them, most buildings will be blown over in a 70mph gale but they are designed for that, 1or2 days and they are back to normal, i was in a hurricane in mexico and they day after 90% was back to normal. USA does not do this .
