What a week.

Here in the land of smiles the Government house has been stormed and occupied for 3 days, a national TV station has been stormed, 3 airports have been stormed and closed down, the rail network has gone on strike, thai Airways has gone on strike, officials of at least one power plant are threatening to cut power and now tear gas is being fired at demonstrators attempting storm the police HQ.

All exciting stuff, that I shall be following closely from the safety of my apartment.

Bangkok, from your Wiltshire correspondant I have to say that I haven't heard anything about this, your update there is the first I've heard of it, maybe I should pay more attention to Asian affairs.

FYI it's just another boring day in Swindon CBD.

Come on, it is not news compared to Obama's wife giving a speech, in support of her husband. Who'd have thought that, his own wife, in support of him. The worlds a madcrazy place

**UPDATE**

Reports now of 3 people being shot by police, and the PM is considering declaring a national emergency.

I should be a fucking reporter me. I do hope that he doesn't call a national emergency tomorrow and cut the net cos' I wanna listen to the footie tomorrow.

I do think ITV and BBC news has become a little too celebrity and sports focussed these days.  Al-Jazeera's where it's at in terms of News Channels.

I happened to switch onto a channel showing all the election crap the other day, only to be faced with a bunch of yanks balling their eyes out because of their love for Obama, America and democracy.

I turned the TV off.

All this in a country that gets to its feet at 6pm every evening to honour the King as the national anthem is played.  (I'll always remember the scene in the central bus station in Bangkok when I was there some years ago.)  What a place of contradictions.

Meanwhile, Thaksin is still being snapped walking freely around Guildford.

It's not a revolt (And it is a revolt) against the monarchy though Ardilles as His Majesty is still very much revered here. In fact if there is any one man who can sort this shite out then it is him although at 80 yrs old he ain't no spring chicken.

It's a revolt against the corruption, abuse of power, nepotism....... (The list goes on) of the lowlife politicians in this so called democratic country.

And yeah, why the fuck is Thaksin (A virtual despot and mass murderer) and his convicted criminal wife walking free? It just ain't right.

I was even more amazed this morning when the lead news story on Radio 5 informed me that Obama had accepted the Democratic nomination to run for president. After all those months pumping billions of dollars into a campaign asking to be nominated, I was certain he'd turn it down.

It's all kicking off in another part of a big city JFW. Should it start getting a bit rowdy where I am then I may be needing new underwear.
