so me and the missus were looking to go to vietnam and cambodia next year, but we're thinking we might try and do a nice holiday, only not quite as far (and expensive) and do our garden up as well. Living the dream, you see!
However, I hate most european destinations - I like to see stuff as well as sit on the beach - so where could we go for a week to 10 days for about 500 sheets that ain't europe?
Apologies for starting another holiday thread...

Juddie, do Slovenia, Europe's hidden treasure. Start of in Lake Bled, hire a rowing boat and row to the 13th century church in the middle of the lake, very romantic (if not a little tiring). Hire some bikes have a lovely look around a beautiful place, then pop down to Ljubljana for a few days, nice city, wonderful castle, then head down south to the coastal resorts of Portoroz/Piran/Izola for some sun. Take the train between destinations, flipping lovely country. You can also get a high speed boat across to Italy or Croatia for a day or two. Loved the 9 days I spent in Slovenia, couldn't recommend it enough, not pricey at all either.

Turkey sounds like a good bet especially if a bit adventurous, meaning want to do a bit of proper travel....an unknown gem is the Kackar Daglari mountain range....Mt Kackar is about 4000m....the landscape is alpine...on a good day from the top you should be able to hear teh Russian guns in South Ossetia. The Turks of course want to enter the EU, so infrastructure is improving, but it's still not Europe...nevertheless welcoming strangers is traditional...probably a good time to go.

Is the implication here that there is nothing to see in Europe!?!
