"Engleby" by Seb Faulkes is the best book I've read for a while-totally engrossing. For a football autobiography try Garrincha, about as far removed from the present day "look at me and how great I am"trend.

Anything by Iain Banks (if you're into Sci-Fi it's Iain M. Banks) Time Traveller's wife by Margaret Atwood Bernard Cornwell - does historical novels, his take on the King Arthur legend is fucking brilliant - http://www.bernardcornwell.net/index2.cfm?page=1&seriesid=4

Just god back from hols...
Dark Fire by C.J.Sansom was very good. Set in Henry VIII's time. Cloud Atlas that I think Legget mentioned by David Mitchell was OK - took a while to get into Mukiwa by Peter Godwin was good, a real life tale about a white lad growing up in Rhodesia and going through national service etc just before Mugabe Reluctant Fundamentalist - can't remember the author now No time for goodbye - Linwood Berclay - very good read

You are on honeymoon and you want to read???
Strange strange lad
Sorry Sam but I have to agree with DRS on this one. No need to take a book. Surely you should be 'looking after' your new wife?!!

I dont understand why in this day and age where couples live together for years before marrige why it is expected that they will spend the whole honeymoon shagging.
The honeymoon is just another holiday, normally to somewhere better than usual

Completely agree. If you're gonna spend the whole fortnight just banging your new Mrs just book 14 nights at the holiday inn express in town and save yourself a fortune. Then once you've had enough of that take her somewhere nice where you can both go and do a bit of sunbathing, site seeing and reading.

"Post Office" by Charles Bukowski. Less than 200 pages long so you'll be through it pretty quick, but that will give her time to recover yes?
