Diagnosed Friday. Going to see nursey this week. Any advice? I take it getting pissed will be an increasingly less frequent event and the pies will have to go.

I'm not your doctor, but would expect that being sensible is going to be the way forward.  You'll be able to enjoy a beer, enjoy a good meal...pretty much everything you're used to really.  Just in moderation, and remember to take some exercise as well.

Good luck.

Its the lack of moderation that has caused the problem. Well maybe its time I grew up and became a responsible adult instead of wearing the non existent invincibility cloak that is becoming less and less reliable over the years.

Sounds as if the reality check has already hit home, Chalky - so you're half way there.  As I said, good luck.  Millions live with the condition.  You'll be fine.

Just think of the additional 20 years of STFC-related misery and frustration you'll be able to live through if you heed the doctor's advice.

My advice chalkie is to be very observant about any changes on or in your body and if anything is not as your used to get to the docs pronto...my bro in law got ill and stubornly refused to tell us or the doc and ended up very poorly....thats the bad bit,the good bit is that he knows now and any thing...however small isnt right he gets it checked and hes well now....if your not happy with your doc,get a second opinion.....good luck chalkie and UP THE TOWN!
