that's exactly what I was thinking.

I'm not sure he's too bothered, he can concentrate on getting his move to Madrid now.

for my purposes I'm assuming he's gutted and will cry all night.

Fair enough....I do feel a bit sad though,  that  the diving and feigning antics of one Portugeezer, should cloud my judgement of such a loyal ally of England.  The Anglo-Portugeezer Alliance dates back to 1373....it was particularly significant in the Peninsular War when Wellington used Portugal as a base from which to launch effect campaigns against the French,  breaking  thier bid for European hegemony and bankrupting the Iberian influence in Latin America in the process.

No wonder, he got a pub named after him in Eastcott Hill.

Ditto, I normally like the old Portuguese in years gone by (post last world cup of course) always an entertaining underdog but there’s nothing better than seeing them being dismantled by ze Germans.

That Schweinsteiger has a lot about him and is coming on leaps and bounds every tournament he plays.

Well, they'll be mounting pigs all over Germany tonight.

Oldest alliance in history (and still in place), I believe...but I've been on the Bitburger and Super Bock so I could be wrong (and a bit fuzzy tomorrow morning).

One down, three to go...................

This may have been asked before, but how come Schweinsteiger was even playing last night.  Straight red in 2nd match = two match ban, did he win an appeal or something?

I've wondered the same Jan.

Kick out ze germans for fielding an illegible player and also penalise those fuckers above me in the fantasy football who had him.

This was from the official euro 2008 website:-

Is suspended for the final group game against Austria on Monday, after his red card for violent conduct in the match against Croatia.

It was only a one game ban.

One match ban for violent conduct???  Blimey.  And to think Zaaboub got a couple of extra games ban due to taking too long to leave the pitch.

I think it has something to do with his name being so German that they only gave him a one game ban.

Was very torn last night. I'm fed up of watching Ballack, Lehmann et al rolling round on the floor for 90 minutes but, at the same time, any team who defends set pieces like a team of Adam Willis' and shoots miles wide every time they get near the opposition's goal deserves to lose

It's a dull one thus far this evening. Although the Croats really should've scored.
