I'd say a pint for £3, a coke for £1.80 and crisps for 50p isn't out of the ordinary.

no wonder pubs are going out of business then.the gulf between shop prices and pub prices is growing to ridiculous proportions.

You had Stowfords that's probably the reason, normally expensive anyways..

We should have a TEF pitch and putt tournament.

Stowfords 2.90 in my local in Devizes, the Southgate. If you were shocked by those prices one can only assume you havne't been to a pub for years, or been exclusively to 'spoons.

Pubs are going out of business because of the smoking ban, Have to re-coup the losses. Hence why most pubs do food now.

I'm sure the smoking ban has impacted the traditional 'drinkers pub', but lets face it, most pubs have been doing food for years now.

On the subject of which, I've noticed that there are fewer genuine pubs doing genuine home cooked food, from scratch, as opposed to chucking pre-prepared food in the microwave and still charging you 10 quid + for a main course. I want ingenious, quality, well prepared fresh food when I eat out, however it seems to me its a case of maximise profit over quality.

And by the way, I'd much rather sit and eat in a nice no-smoking pub than have 3 fat geezers smoking cigars next to me while I'm trying to eat (which happened to me earlier this week in Greece).

Go to a restaurant then, not the bloody pub.

If I want a meal i'll go to a decent restaurant, thats what they were invented for!!!

A pub is a place to get drunk, have a laugh with the lads and flirt with girls.

It's like that in most places arriba, tis a rip off, but I suppose so are non-pub places that sell coke.
