Henry Allingham, 112 today.  Oldest veteran of WW1 (still alive) and last survivor of the Battle of Jutland.

Lovely story, what an amazing life the old fella's had!!

I love this quote

He has joked that the secret to his longevity is "cigarettes, whisky and wild women".

He's going on my death prediction list.

How many WW1 veterans are left? Oh yeah it says probably 3 in the article.

According to Wikkipedia, he is a supercentenarian (110 year old or more) and that only 1 in 1000 100year olds live to be a supercentenarian.

Quite interesting.

He really has lived through two world wars and one world cup.

I think people of his age have seen the most change you could imagine.  When he was a nipper there was no tv, not many cars, no commercial flights, not many images of foreign lands etc, no multi-culturalism (sp).

And what about fashion, he's seen it all from when he was a randy teenagers when women walked around in long dresses and hats, to the 20's, 30's 50's, swinging sixties, mini skirts hippies etc, he's seen so much.

The wars, the growth in sport, he was 34 when the first world cup was held, in his 50's when the first European cup was played etc.  Unbelievable life.

I'm gonna have a drink or two to Henry later!!  Good on ya old boy!
