It's mixed with Blackcurrant sometimes, isn't it? It tends to work well with citric flavours so lemon is the obvious choice.

Personally, I'd leave the Pernod alone and have a Dry Martini (still the most expensive drink I've ever purchased by the glass) if we're being a bit tarty.

Once only, Stupid Pub, Drinking/cards all day opening, wasn't the worst combination, that was Guiness and creme de Menthe which incidentally curdled, not recommended
