Taxis out here have to use them, they can change from Petrol in the tank to LPG in a  cannister in the boot at a flick of a switch.

Dirt cheap as well apparently.

think it costs £1,500 or so, depending on the car.  Around 52p a litre.

But you only get 30 mpg on LPG, so its not as cheap as you think!

My brother in law had his converted and it cost him £2,200, the cheapest I have seen so far is around £1,500 for a 4 cylinder.

The MPG goes up a bit with it average say 30mpg where as with petrol it would do 36-37mpg but the cost more than outweighs that, performance on gas goes down a little too but no more than 10%.

The only negative is that the engine has to warm up on petrol for the first 3 miles of a trip before you can switch to LPG so if you only do less than 3 miles a trip to work then its no use but if you regularly driver longer then it is well worth it, you can make your money back on an average conversion cost inside about a year and a half apparently.

Really???  Bloody hell that's a massive draw back for me to be fair, as we live in Ash Brake and work in Swindon central.  we go to Cornwall quite a nbit but not really that much to make a difference.

I'm driving over to the UK next week and I am not looking forward to paying £1.20 per litre as I only pay 1 Euro 20 for my petrol in Lux.

My car only does about 25 miles to the gallon so my trip could end up costing me quite a lot in petrol!
