Football is immense in HD Sippo, well worth it just for that.
You can follow the game so much better.

It's a new dish and wires, I think it is an extra £10 a month and something like £200-300 for the upgrade
Personally I don't see the point as there isn't enough HD channels yet, use your money for something better

I recently recommnded a friend to Sky and am just upgrading to Sky Plus - through this you can upgrade to a sky HD box instead for £99 (and £60 installtion costs) so worth seeing if you can recommend someone?
Im not sure what Sky package you have Sippo but you have to be on full package and pay the HD subsribtion on top - its about £65 a month!
my boyfriend wanted it but as I currently pay £18 a month for Sky I told him no!!

Hd subscription is £10 p/m + whatever you pay now p/m. For that you will get the HD channels that reflect the package you are on. For example, if you have the movie channels but not the sports you will get the movie HD channels but not the HD sports. Note also sports HD is a mix of Sports 1,2,3 + Extra, you need to check what you will get HD wise if you only have some of these channels.
Note: singing up to HD locks you in for a further 12 months.
You should be able to get BBC HD without the £10 p/m subscription (not sure about C4 HD)
Installation - if you have Sky+ it really is a piece of piss, just unplug the + box and plug in the HD box. If you only have a standard digibox you will (possibly) need to change the LNB (thing on the dish the cable runs into) in and run another cable from your dish to your box - it uses 2 feeds just like Sky+. After that a few settings to twiddle and away you go.
Getting the box - not sure - there maybe some deals. Check the digitalspy HD forums I think I saw a £99 deal but have no idea who, where, when, what, why. So you can go through Sky + get installation. Alternative is to go to an authorised seller (ASA) anfd get them to do installation or DIY (from Sky+ is easy). I found mine on ebay, no idea how you find a local one,
Is it worth it - depends, soooo subjective. I'd say if you don't have sports and movies then £10 is a rip off. That said, not even all the sports shown are native HS, but upscaled SD. Long and short - I wouldn't pay the £10 extra if I didn't get a discount. Other people would pay double to get HD. It's your call.

See we've only got the basic package so don't have Sports or movies. Think I'll wait til the price drops...hopefully.

The alternative is to cancel your sky subs and then take it out in someone else's name (perhaps use the wife's maiden name) but the same bank a/c at your address and you will qualify for the price of a brand new installation rather than the upgrade price and sky are non the wiser - this was recommended to me by one of the independants and it works

Probably not worth it until the free channel HD output increases though.
