Just some random thought that entered my head for whatever reason.
But by all accounts it is against all of the laws of physics for bee to be able to fly. Mental little fuckers.
That's all from me.
Anybody else have some random piece of trivia for today?

I'm afraid the laws of physics stand up to bee flight... In his 1934 French book Le vol des insectes, M. Magnan wrote that he and a Mr. Saint-Lague had applied the equations of air resistance to bumblebees and found that their flight was impossible, but that "One shouldn't be surprised that the results of the calculations don't square with reality".[4]
In 1996 Charlie Ellington at Cambridge University showed that vortices created by many insects’ wings and non-linear effects were a vital source of lift;[5] vortices and non-linear phenomena are notoriously difficult areas of hydrodynamics, which has made for slow progress in theoretical understanding of insect flight. In 2005 Michael Dickinson and his Caltech colleagues studied honey bee flight with the assistance of high-speed cinematography[1] and a giant robotic mock-up of a bee wing[6], which "proves bees can fly, thank God”.
Although it seems it's less of a myth than I thought it might be.

Booo at neville. On the subject of bees. The Japanese Honey Bee has an interesting defence against everybody's favourite insect, the Asian Giant Hornet. When one of these mighty beasts invades the bee's layer, they crawl on it and vibrate until it get's so hot it dies. The magic temperature is 47 °C which the bee's can survive, but the hornet can't cope with temperatures about 45 °C Take that mr. hornet. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/f5/Vespa_mandarinia.jpg

My tinterweb is being slow. I'll have a butchers later.
I wouldn't know what any of them are called anyway. There doesn't seem to be any new ones with the giant unbeatable hornet.

Another random thought!
Why is peeling dried PVA glue off your hands so enjoyable.
And I KNOW that I am not the only one.
Discuss.

I love random trivia and have loads of books on useless crap..
I had to stop reading this rubbish as it served no purpose and just made me more pedantic. It's strange as well, because despite reading about 5 of these books, (i still have 4 or 5 unread), i feel like i can't remember anything cool. Well, apart from a partial recollection of some fact about how an old Queen (of France i think?), who had a penchant for cock a la horse, didn't actually die after being fucked by a horse and getting trampled on.
God i ramble, i almost then continued on with some useless trivia i do remember, but it's about as interesting as the 100 or so words preceding this full stop.

Catherine the Great of Russia (although I think she may have been German/Prussian - I'll wait for Reg to put me right ) You made me check (the book is "The Pedants Revolt" for those that care!). It was Catherine the great, and she was predominantly German i think (i coudn't be bothered to read the whole thing!), and the rumours were actually started by the French and she didn't infact fuck horses but those pesky frogs said she did. So the thing i do remember wasn't even very right!
