I mean come on lets get real. It's highly likely we will never play them again. There not even a League Club anymore and certainly dont ever look like being so anytime soon. I personnaly cannot get worked up into a frenzy about such a small club plying their trade 2 Leagues below us. God forbid if we reach The Championship next season. Will anybody really care about playing Oxford? Surely the whole point of having a rival is that you play them on a regular basis for bragging rights. For me, I consider Bristol City as the team who we should now consider our main rivals.

Why are you posting about them if you want to forget?

We have had this debate many times over. Oxford are our rivals and always will be. We may get them in the FA Cup (if they qualify) or whatever.

certainly setting yourself up for some comments from Shity fans  there, especially if they surprise all expectations and don't make a balls-up of the play offs. again.

Oxford will always be our main rivals, okay so they're having a bad time of it at present but they'll be back, that's football.  Look at Burnley and Blackburn haven't been in the same division for ages but the Burnley fans still hate Blackburn.

Oh and Oxford will go up next year, so the gap between us may narrow somewhat.

I would be very surprised if they did go up next season, isn't there talk of them losing their professional status next season, therefore playing on a level with most of the other clubs in The Conference.

I do get sick of the anti-oxford chants though..they're sung all the time during a completely different match. I think Rovers are more of a rival now rather than Oxford..although they will always be our number one hated club.

You can't just 'pick' a rival  :-))(

I think you have to live with and around rival fans to realise the true extent of how fierce a rivalry is.

I can very much assure you that the Oxford/Swindon rivalry is as fierce as ever.

True. But of course there is and can be more than one. And its not the same for everyone. You live in oxfordshire, so hate the pox more I'd imagine.

I dont live in Bristol, but I get plenty of shit from city fans i know. This and the fact we've played them regually in recent years makes me hate them more. its a personal thing.
