Theres a Butchers in Rodbourne that looks alright.I dont go in because I dont know what to ask for Ive got an irrational paranoia about looking stupid in shops like that.Same as Delis and Fish counters in Supermarkets.

Stupid I know but thats the way it is...

Its pretty simple. Just go up to the fish counter and ask for a piece of fish. Job done. Just had some nice Sea Bass from Morrisons tonight.

Its not that simple in my mind im afraid.I'll play these situations over in my head to the point of a tizz.

What sort of fish - well, what do you fancy sir???
What size - an 8oz fillet should be more than enough per head.
Will i end up with a huge fish that i cant afford - see above
How will I cook it - pan fried, little bit of olive oil, seasoning. Easy.
Do i ask for the head to be cut off - Hell yes
Do i ask for it to be gutted - yes, unless you like picking bones out.

The scenario becomes more complicated the more I think about it.

But why put myself through the worry,and I would worry as well.

I know its pathetic,I think its a lingering post drug paranoia or something

No i'll just keep buying stuff where I dont have to speak to anyone.

I had Sunday lunch in the Merlin, it was pretty good, nice bit of beef, yorkshire, gravy and 5 veg.

Agreed! We get most of our meat from there actually and it is always superb!!! Whether its a Sunday joint, sausages or pies its great. Think Mr Crump himself passed away a year or two ago which is sad. He often went and watched te cricket at Goatacre and was held in high regard. Basically Corporal Jones from Dad's Army, just without the war stuff

Theres one in walcot aswell. They do really nice baguettes there too!!!

Do you mean the one in Sussex Square?  I have been in there, not impressed with cleanliness or the fact that a lot of alcohol is consumed there!!  There's a time and a place for everything!!!
