Yesterday our Sunday roast consisted of a piece of beef that would have been better classed as shoe leather. I know it came from a supermarket but it was awful. We have now decided that the time has come to find a real butcher who can supply us with decent joints of meat. Question is where? Anybody got any recommendations?

If a few more people did what you were doing, there would be good butchers on most suburban high streets and you wouldn't need to ask where one was! We don't eat a lot of meat at home, but always get the Sunday joint from the local butcher. A little more expensive, but worth every penny. Good luck with your search.

Or you can go to the outlet village on sundays ( i think) and they have a farmers market. My mum buys sheep from their, all cut up and packed and i think they reccomend it. I guess they do other meats

I know where they are Ardilles, just hoping for a bit of guidance as to a good one!! In Cricklade there are two, one always seems empty and one is usually very busy. Why the difference? Anybody know? Prefer to get a good butcher in Swindon though!

An expensive but good alternative is Butts farm shop. It's just off the A419 on the old Ciren-Swindon road between the South Cerney spine road junction and the Cerney airfiled.
But I guess that means driving to it, and they aren't the cheapest.

Prefer to get a good butcher in Swindon though! My mate is originally from Cricklade. The busy one is the best he's been to apparently.
