Mine was a 1984 B Fiat Uno 55s, i got if off my grandad for nothing as he couldn't drive anymore.
It was mint, he owned it from new and despite it being old, even when i acquired it (it had 20k on the clock, fsh and smelt new), I'd trashed it before it even had 55k on the clock. If it wasn't for the fact i was 17, i think i would've felt very bad. I'm pretty ashamed of myself in hindsight.

a 3 year old V Reg Fiat Strada 1.6 twin cam 105tc Abarth back in 84, fast as fudge and dirt cheap insurance, no rust whatsoever back in the day when you could insure a sporty car cheaply as an 18 year old.
Kept it 3 years and swapped it for a MK 2 RS2000....nice.

My first car that i actually owned is my current 53 plate Ibiza, however I spent my student summer holidays in a L reg fiesta 1.1L driving to and from building sites with the seats down and using it like a van, the poor car was a heap once I'd done with it.

I never 'owned' a car in England.
The first one that I did was an old BMW, it looked good but it was old and heavy, so heavy that the misses could not drive it: No power steering, I think that my biceps got a tad larger through driving the tank.
I had two crashes in it, not serious as nobody was injuired, but both times the brakes failed, and by failed I mean they where just kaput.
The second crash resulted in me driving from Cambodia to Bangkok with a fucked radiator.
To cut a long one short I got rid and bought a Toyota from new which has never let me down once (Touches wood)

S-reg (the old S-reg so I guess late 70s/early 80s, can't be bothered to check) Capri. It was the business! Sadly being young and fickle I ragged the arse off it and ran it into the ground
