I don't like this idea of someone organising a black out on the media coverage just so he could go. I understand doing that on important stuff, like not reporting that the police have an under cover agent in a drug den or something.

Not reporting something just so little Harry gets to go fight with his chums is a bit of a knock for the trust in the media though. Set's a new low for media manipulation, one that could be used for other things.

Harry's been spotted rinking in the Kings Arms in Calne before, therefore he's alright by me!!!  I like Prince Phillip too, he's funny.  Charlie's not a bad geezer just given a hard time by the press.  Princess Anne does a good job, hardly ever misses a Scotland rugby match, which I bet she's thrilled about - deserves a lot of credit for that alone!

Anyway back to Harry, fair play to him for going out there in the first place, but he should get noe extra special benefits compared to the other lads out there.

The cynical part of me wonders exactly how much of an unauthorised leak this was, but i like the idea of henry the fifth leading the charge at Agincourt, that sort of thing and reckon this is exactly the sort of thing the royals should be doing, so i'll give him the benfit of the doubt and show some pride.

i think that's bollocks.
harry's a soldier, he should serve in the war, agree with it or not he's technically fighting for us, i certainly wouldnt be prepared to go and serve in helmand.
but if everybody knew about it, it would definetely increase the risk to him and his battalion.

it's easy to be cynical about it, but just a teaspoon of common sense shows that this blackout was justified, and admirably carried out by the media it has to be said.

But then instead of sending him and trying to keep a secret which if it gets out is not only a risk to him and all his mates. He just shouldn't go.

I just don't like the idea of media silencing. I know papers and telly aren't the most reliable of things but they are pretty much all we've got to keep us informed of the world most of the time.

I'd agree there could be an argument that he shouldn't go, in respect of the fact that he puts his fellow soldiers in danger. Although do we really need to know where he is at all times? And apparently it was not a case of censorship at all, rather the beeb decided against broadcasting through combination of some deal and some common dog being used. Supposedly It all fell through because individual(s) who leaked it.
