I'm thinking around a 1pm start, the fares from Swindon to London are cheapest at this time if you buy singles.
Few tins on the train, arrive into Paddington about 2ish and have a couple in the Mad Bishop, then move onto the pub Si Pie mentioned (The Goose?) then I think it's only another couple of stops on the tube from there.
