i think all modchips involve soldering, they did on the PS1 and xbox anyway. trick is to have a mate who knows what he's doing. not that i do of course.

I remember there were other ways of doing it....ps2 you could use swap disc and xbox they made one you didnt have to solder (dunno how but my mate had it).

Think there was a ps1 non soldering thing eventually.
Got a feeling that the dreamcast has fuck all protection but the dreamcast discs are a bit different than cd's and hold more. It'll play copied cd's but as they can't hold as much so you have to play silly buggers and compress video and stuff on bigger games.

i toyed with the idea of getting my ps1 and ps2 chipped back in the day.but friends who had theirs done had loads of problems with them.

I'd love to have a chipped ps1, think someone offered me one in a thread ages ago but I never got around to sorting it.
Top of my wish list at the moment would be an Atari Jaguar with a copy of Tempest 2000. Which is possibly the greatest non-heard of game ever. Bit of a fan of Jeff Minters stuff. He's a bit of a nutter. Llamatron was awesome, especially if you play it with a dual stick controller.
