I can't believe people are saying that the Wii is a novelty console and that you'll put it down in a week! Utter bollocks. Get some good games and this is a great console for everyone!

The Mario games (Super Paper Mario, Mario Galaxy) are great, Zelda, the Godfather and Resident Evil 4 are fantastic, Tiger Woods 2008, Wii Sports, Sonic & Mario at the Olympics are fantastic with your mates, Wii Play and WarioWare are good for mates and girls will love them. Online Super Mario Charged Strikers is great fun (until some twat starts jumping over your keeper every time he gets the ball).

I'm yet to play Guitar Hero 3, but if it's anything like the XBox 360 then it's great, and Rock Band is set to be the biggest game of next year, along with Wii Fitness.

If you genuinely dislike playing on the Wii then fair enough, but I find most people are just being gamer snobs when dismissing it. Get over yourselves.

Wii is great. Get one.

Super Mario Galaxy is better than Zelda....

...plus after everything timmy said. Virtual Console, can download loads of old NES, SNES, N64, Master System, Mega Drive and other games.

So, as well as the new mega ace Mario and Zelda I've also got Super Mario Brothers 3 and Street Fighter II Turbo

Get a dirty girlfriend instead. If you get bored there's always the poo shoot and if you're really bored some multi-player with your mates is great fun. Drink is recommended though.

I had Zelda and Tiger Woods 08' and it was still pretty meh!

I'm not a gamer snob i just don't see the point in keeping something that i grew bored with, there's no need to get over myself just because i don't think it's as good as an xbox360 or ps3.

Both the Wii and the xbox360 are pretty good. Still don't think there's anything on the ps3 which is worth splashing out the megabucks though.

I thought the same until I got mine home.

The Blu Ray playback is simply stunning on the right TV and it also upscales dvd's very, very well.

I now have 4 games for mine and love it.

Call of Duty 4 with full 5.1 surround sound is fantastic.

If I wanted a Blu Ray player then I might consider it, but even looking at it like that it's risky. Blu Ray player's prices are going to drop quicker than the ps3's will, they'll also improve. Also you're buying into a media format situation where you've still got the possibility of beta maxing it.

As a console there really isn't anything on it which interests me. I'm more interested in games than the shiny realistic graphics and surround sound. Infact, I find the location and character representations in something like the original monkey island a hundred times more impressive. It's amazing the detail artists could get in a screen of 320x200 with only 16 colours. And give me a catchy midi tune which is going to get into your head and never leave over rumbling explosions any day.

I think we'll probably always disagree on this one Ralph. I'm not really interested in Linear Army Shooter 5 or Car Thief Gangster 9. I happily stayed up playing classic Japanese Snes game Seiken Densetsu 3 (sequel to classic Secret of Mana) until I fell asleep fighting some god beast last night. Couldn't keep my eyes open any more, still beat it somehow. Happy days.

It's a shame that technology has only really bought in realism. Back when things were limited, games often had to be based on pretty crazy abstract ideas. Something needs to come along to remind people that Realistic != Good.

Each to their own Ben.

I admit, Double Dragon is one of my favourite games ever on the NES.
