We lacked cohesion, understandable given the patched up team, but the players showed some guts today, battled hard and deserved their point. Harsh on them I thought. Allen stood out for me in the first half, good energy and passed well. Second half they looked increasingly dangerous, we had our moments, but looked happy with the draw. Almost worked too. Cruel, cruel game  :?

There no.5 was a right tosser, of which we regularly reminded him (he was in the Gurney mould, which will tell you all you need to know). Seemed to put him right off which was pleasing, but he properly milked it at the end. Saw one town fella make a run down the touchline for the dug out to get at him, took four or five stewards to stop him. fairplay

Best bit for me was a heartfelt, vocal rendition of We'll Never Die whilst the players lined up for the restart after Cox scored. There was quite a lengthy pause, the ref held things up for some reason, the home fans were in shock - in which they seemed to remain for the rest of the game - and it just felt like everything kind of stopped for a minute there....a last defiant call from the terraces, a moments thought for all...made me well up a bit if I'm honest. Its been an emotional week you understand!

he played in the Makele position and did ok. i think if we had 2 capable wide men and cox up top instead of sturrock and ifil and vincent back we would have a decent team.

smith/brezovan

smith alojfree ifil vincent
allen
mcgovern easton pook roberts
        cox

i reckon that would be cream.
But the fountain of footballing knowledge that is DV says playing Allen is stupid. And that Byrne is useless...so playing Allen in a formation employed by Byrne can't possibly work?!

 Wink

Where did I say that?

I've only seen him a few times but I like Allen as a player. He looks composed on the ball and his distribution is very clever.

I think technically he's a better player than Pook.

I like to see him play more to be honest.

Why?

Most of local pub support Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea, apart from three or four Reading and TWO, yes TWO Swindon fans they are always giving it large, so if this score stays the same, then TWO OUT OF THREE AIN'T BAD and they will get plenty of stick, come on Middlesbrough.
