Right, I'm bored and pissed up on a boat in Chichester Harbour - so I feel the urge to do a lyric quiz.  I'll give the first line of a song and you tell me the song title and artist....I did do these off the top of my head so don't fucking cheat and google them.  Also no comments on my MoR taste thanks

1)  "Sticks and stones will break my bones, but I always will be
true"
Tom Waits - "On the Nickel"
2) "There's a man I meet walks up our street, he's a worker for the council has been 20 years"
Deacon Blue "Dignity"
3) "I come from down in the valley, where mister when you're young"
Bruce Springsteen "The River"
4) "Well the bus is pulling out and I think I better go, before I make a grave mistake and let my feelings show"
Del Amitri "Be my Downfall"
5) "Early one morning, the sun was shining, I ws layin in bed"
Bob Dylan "Tangled up in Blue"
6) "I'm on a roll, I'm on a roll this time, I feel my luck could change"
Radiohead "Lucky"
7) "Load up on guns, bring your friends, it's fun to lose and pretend"
Nirvana - "Smells like Teen Spirit"
Cool "I'm enlisting oversea's aid,  need assisting help with a maid"
XTC "Sgt Rock is going to help me"
9) "I was on the outside whe you said yousaid you needed me"
U2 "I will follow"

Yep - Wyatt recorded it first, Costello wrote the lyrics then recorded it himself about 6 months after Wyatt

This song was produced by the only musical act from Swindon (excluding Billie Piper)

Even more impressively, Swindon's got Gilbert O'Sullivan:

Of course, Oxfordshire can also claim the world's most famous paedophile, Gary Glitter.

The fact that you support Swindon and can't get number 8 is either a disgrace or testament to the fact hat you are light years younger than me.  This song was produced by the only musical act from Swindon (excluding Billie Piper) - I bet Reg will get the rest - glad someone is still up this late as the fucking anchor has just slipped

I guess all these people in bands don't exist then?  Soapy Tit Wank  Wink

They got signed by Sony then their deal got cancelled because they didn't sell enough. Haven't heard anything from them since. Also when they did get signed only one of them was from Swindon and even he (i think) was not part of the original line up.
