does anyone know much about it here?

Im looking into it... I have only just found out about it, i have been waiting for my son to grow up for years so that i could start some kind of education!

It depends what courses as a lot of people have moaned where I work that the variety of courses isnt that good for such a large organisation serving the majority of adult learners.

To be honest i have no idea im just looking through now, something along the line of sociology and psychology.
I really had no idea that i could get funding for such thing that i could do at home!

If you didn't want to do something as full on as a degree then there are organisations which offer NVQ's etc. in various subjects funded by the EU.

They also offer NVQ level 3's to Small to Medium sized businesses.

My sister works for them, as an employee you are allowed to study what you want for free - she's learning spanish.

  I've a lady friend who's doing a degree in sociology....she's been doing it for a while now, because you do it in modules, which are worth points, you can pick and choose when you do the work.

  My main recommendation would be to chose something in which you're genuinely interested ....rather tahn just any old ology

As Mrs Jones once said 'Ology. Ology' your a scientist with an 'Ology - with due deference to Maureen Lipman.  Not sure thats verbatim, but true anyway, considering that my Mother in Law was a "Mrs Jones".

Anyway in my opinion - worth nowt if truth be known - sociology and Psychology are the degree equivalents oif knitting and Fillum/Media Studies (etc.  Get a job for chrissakes)

I've done a couple of OU courses and I would have to say that as an organization they are absolutely top drawer. A lot of the courses are not cheap but in terms of content, course materials and their tutors I can't speak highly enough of them.

t'is hard work when you're working full time though.

When I did my degree - all those years ago, the OU books were the only ones I understood - a bit like Noddy meets the Organic Chemist or Big Ears struggles with Quantum Mechanics - mind you this was before Schrodingers cat was born!

I have to say, I do miss coming home from the pub pissed (obviously) and the only stuff left to watch was the Open University where you would get crusty old boys like this spouting on about Soviet cement production techniques between 1954 and 1962 and such like. This one's a bit too well dressed but he was the best I could find:
