You aren't trying to find out if you can pull up loads of boats and rent them out to more hookers and drug addicts to sleep on are you?

But Ben you have an idea, maybe I will explore it

You might be able to get some old oil rigs in the North Sea for cheap if you're going that route.

I always wonder why, with our overcrowded prisons, people don't realise that sending more people to prison probably isn't solving any crime problems. Make them go to school or something with the threat of prison. People aren't bad, they just think they lack options.

That was a random liberal thread derail.

You could make loads of money by transporting cargo yourself. Cuts out the middle man so you take a bigger cut.

I wouldn't land your boat in a busy area like Poole if that's your plan.

Touché Si. Would you even have to hide it in suitcases or something? Do you reckon you could claim that the big powdery bricks were for building houses or something?

Hi Bushey - it's about £2000 a year in Chichester for a marina berth for a 25ft (7.6m) boat.  I don't know the exact prices for Poole but Southampton prices would be about £4000 for the same size.  Swinging moorings(ie: those on a buoy out in the harbour) would be cheaper cos it's much more hassle to get on board and you don't have bars and showers within easy reach.  Swinging moorings in Chichester harbour are owned by the council and are probably about £850 pounds per year.  Trouble is some of them have limited draught so your boat would have to be capable of taking to the ground at low water.  For a speedboat this shouldn't be a problem as long as you remember to swing the outboard engine up.  I've got some mates who have boats in Poole so if you want me to check out the prices it's easily done.  They are a bit keen on checking boats for reggae reggae sauce so business opportunities may require a really fast boat!!

Your a legend, really appreciate this info.  If I can be cheeky I would welcome info on the poole stuff.  My mums moving to the area in teh next year so would be nice for her to use it.  As it is 5k was what we thought would be the cost with insurances we thought.I wont be transporting any raggae!
