As lucky a I am to have survived the last one, and this one not actually occuring (YET!!!), it really is begining to get rather worrying. Being easter (Long weekend) I went away to an island, just as I did on 26th December last year.. Although no Tsunami actually hit it was still not a nice experience being evacuated from my hotel to higher ground at midnight (I was sleeping early because I had to reurn back home to Bangkok), however.................

At least this time there was a warning, which would have saved tens or even hundreds of thousands of lives had there actually been a Tsunami this time, media reports of "Unusual todal activity" are not exactly correct, friends of mine living in Phuket and other areas of southern thailand have already told me that they ran to high ground because they saw the ocean get sucked right out into the ocean. Let's hope this one is a false alarm.

The earthqake last night was an aftershock of the one that took so many lives on boxing day last year, meaning that it is probable that more can be expected, what's more is that after shocks can be more severe than the intial quake itself, so perhaps the worst is yet to come!

I am safely back home right now in Bangkok, yet I can still hear many helicoters flying overhead headed south towards the islands, despite the fact that the tsunami warnings have subsided. In am living in a very nervous nation right now, thailand and the whole of South East Asia are glued to the TV, or listeneing to the news, terrified of a power of which they have no control of over whatsoever.

I am not a religoius man myself but after my near death experience on boxing day last year I still find myself praying to God that history will not  repeat itself repeat itself, and yet again take the lives of so many innocent  people.

2,000 + people have already died last night because of the earthquake, please be prepared to help should these poor, desperate and very scared people need it, and please be prepared to help if or when the next killer tsunami does actually occur......... I know that I am prepared to help myslef......

Your's in a safe place.

Very well written BKK!  I must say it is quite scary and although we try to appreciate what it is like the majority of us have no idea how people out there must be feeling!

I helped, financially anyway, after the las tsunami and obviously would be more than prepared to help again!  It really is quite shocking!

The whole thing scares me shitless in all honesty.

My thoughts go out to all the people in Asia who were just beginning to get their lives and businesses back together and have been knocked back by another tragic event. Horrible.

Tsunami this, tsunami that, now an eathquake.  Change the record.  You should see what it's like here, drizzle, drizzle and more drizzle but we don't go on about it do we?

In all seriousness my thoughts go out to all in SE Asia (again)!!

If you find yourself praying though, that surely makes you a religious man doesn't it?  Even if you don't think of yourself as such.

Just a thought.
