My laptop has decided to reject my AC Adapter a week after my Warranty ran out, and therefore won't charege or run off the mains. I have just got off the phone to some Irish bloke who has arranged someone to phone me for a quote to get my motherboard fixed. Now to me this seems slightly OTT but hey, he knows what he's talking about right?

Before I accept the quote though, I wanna get hold of another adaptor and see if it's just the pin into the laptop thats fucked, so was merely wondering if anyone has a spare Dell 60W PA-16 AC adapter they'd be willing to give/sell to me??

PS. Before everyone says it, lesson learnt, don't ever deal with deal, but I can't afford a whole new laptop.

You could get a cheap AC adapter off flea bay, or even a cheap basic laptop Smiley

Yea but buying one off ebay means waiting 7+ days before I even get it then, then if it doesn't work, another 7 days for the repair. I need one asap to just try and see whether or not I need to Motherboard repaired....and If they quote me more than £100 then I will look for a another Laptop

Whatever you do, don't carry the laptop down the stairs, trip and smash it forcing you to claim off the contents insurance. That's fraud.

If you did actually trip and break it, it wouldn't be fraud, if you didn't trip and didn't smash it (or smashed it up on purpose) but claimed it as an accident, it would be fraud.

I think Jan missed the point of Batch's post.

And I think Batch needed a gold old Wink at the end of the post.

Have you tried it without the battery in?

Just an idea.
