A slow and painful death is what they need.

Bring back the death sentence....

Chinese water torture.

Tie them to a rack, and centre drops of water on a single spot on their forehead.

Not only will it make them go insane, but if the water hits the same spot over and over again it'll force a hole through the head into the brain and kill them. Might take a few months though.

Keep them Locked up for a certain amount of time (10-15 years) and then review the situation. If they've dropped there extremest views and are no longer a threat then let them go. People can change and if they do, then they deserve another chance.

I don't see the point in killing them.
For them and the people's views they represent it would be seen as a moral victory. They would be seen as martyrs and it would just encourage more people to follow in their footsteps

Life in this country is only 15 years tho??  :?

No it's not. It's life with a tariff set before you can be reviewed for parole. Once you've served your tariff, the parole review board considers whether you can be released on license (ie you're still serving the sentence and can be hoiked back in at any time if you breach the terms of the license). In order to be considered for parole you have to show remorse for your crime which is why many prisoners who claim they were wrongfully convicted end up serving substantially longer than people who accept they were guilty (because if you're still protesting your innocence, you don't accept you committed the crime and hence can't show remorse). And even then for high-profile cases, it's still (even in these days of lenient sentences) far from automatic - e.g. Myra Hindley did 30+ years before she died inside; IIRC Harry Roberts is entering his 39th year inside and showing no signs of being let out. The idea that "no-one does life, it's just a slap on the wrist" is just tabloid bollocks. These guys will do 30-35 years easy, then will be deported on release if they're not British nationals. But tbh I'd expect them to  do longer and die inside so the deportation/license thing doesn't come into it.

What i don't understand is that treason is still seen as a punishment worthy of the death penalty in this country. Surely that is seen as treason? They would already be dead if it was in America

The death penalty in the UK was effectively ended in 1998 when High Treason and piracy were removed from the list of Capital crimes. What should we do Fred ?
