right: i'm looking for a hotel in the country for next weekend for me and the missus for our anniversary, just want somewhere nice for 2 nights that has a good restaurant nearby and nice rooms. anywhere in the south east quarter of england will do.

anyone got any suggestions / experiences that would be helpful?

i've tried all manner of websites and i'm none the wiser.

Used this website to find a lovely b&b near Wareham a few weeks back.

http://www.bedandbreakfastnationwide.com/bbnHome.cfm

Depends on how much you want to spend though.

Not exactly in the country, but stayed here last weekend: www.topazhotel.co.uk

(more of a b&b than a hotel mind)

£30pp per night and 10 mins walking distance from Bournemouth town centre bars, restaurants etc.. Monkey World is cool, and only about 5 miles out of town.

Norwich is the IN place to be at the moment in the east of England.
Good accommodation to be found at very reasonable prices, and some great nightlife.
A little further south you could have a great weekend in Canterbury, accommodation quite expensive, but beautiful area and some fine restaurants and bars.

Try www.laterooms.com  I stopped at the Maid's Head hotel in Norwich last year for £50 a double room, slap bang in the middle of the city with a view of the cathedral!
